Patty Sumner, Senior Children's Librarian
Patty has been with Piscataway Public Library since 1993. What started as a four hour position slowly grew into full-time. She received her Masters in Library Sciences from Rutgers University in 2005. She really enjoys every aspect of her job, especially school visits and programming. They keep her young. She loves watching children and families grow before her eyes, and she's also pretty sure she has read just about every picture book in the collection! When not at the library, she loves to travel, visit her two children, take pictures of her cats, and catching as many sunrises and sunsets as possible.
Peggy Wong, Senior Children's Librarian
Peggy joined the Children’s Department in 2009. She has an MBA, with a concentration in Finance, from Rutgers Business School, and an MLIS degree from Rutgers School of Communication and Information. After a solid career in the financial industry, Peggy changed careers to become a children’s librarian to pursue and share her passion for children’s literature, art, music and fitness with children. She is passionate about finding innovative and collaborative ways to use technology in her library programs to inspire and nurture self-confidence, creativity, curiosity about learning, and a love of literature in children. Peggy loves creating programs that celebrate cultural diversity and enjoys working with children with special needs. She enjoys reading classics, nonfiction, and fairytale fantasies, especially fairytale retellings.
Michael Ferraro, Children's Librarian
Michael Ferraro has been a Children's Librarian at Kennedy since 2017, and has worked as both a public librarian and elementary school librarian. Some of Michael's favorite children's books include Katherine Applegate's Crenshaw, Lauren Tarshis's I Survived series, Neil Gaiman's Odd & the Frost Giants and The Graveyard Book, and Jeff Smith's Bone series. Favorite adult genres include horror, obscure world history and anything philosophical or allegorical. He lives in Milltown with his wife and two little boys, and laments being (in his words), "a Lord of the Rings" fan in a "Harry Potter" world.
