June 27 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
One event on June 28, 2019 at 10:30 am
Join as we get hands on and explore computer and laptop hardware, methods for reviving old computers to work again, and experiment with new operating systems. During this two day experience, participants will get to :
- Try out and test drive various version of the Linux operating system
- Explore computer hardware and gain a better understanding about how computers and operating systems work
- Experiment with computer hardware and installing operating systems.
- Learn and explore tips and try out methods for getting old hardware to run again (or run better!)
This set of workshops will be facilitated by Dave Zirkle, Piscataway resident, former school teacher and current hardware and computer enthusiast. These workshop will be very hands-on and allow the participants to explore their interests, experiment, and learn by doing.
We highly encourage participants, with their parents permission, to bring in an old laptop or computer which they may like to work on themselves (though we will have several on hand for them to work with).
This workshop series is for those in grades 5-8. Please use the form below to register. By registering, you are registering your child for BOTH sessions. Both sessions (Thursday 6/27 and Friday 6/28) will run from 10:30am-12:30pm.
