Aditya Dutt is the founder of Mission: DICE and a sophomore at Edison Academy. He first used a 3D printer in the Piscataway Public Library’s Make It Yourself (MiY) Makerspace a couple years ago, and he was hooked! Aditya has been printing ever since.
When the Library’s Head of Technology and MiY Makerspace Coordinator, Doug Baldwin, saw the America’s Promise Alliance’s Power of Youth Challenge grant opportunity, he thought of Aditya. Doug shared the opportunity, Aditya applied, and when he was awarded funding from the America’s Promise Alliance, Aditya wanted to give back to the Library. Aditya donated part of his grant to Piscataway Public Library to underwrite the purchase of 3D printing filament for the Library’s 3D printers.
These filaments will be used to provide free 3D prints for children and teens. Patrons of all ages are welcome to utilize our 3D printers for a small fee – 10 cents per gram. For more information on having your item printed, please visit the 3D Prints on Demand tab on our MiY Makerspace page.
Congratulations, Aditya! For young people interested in getting similar projects funded, the next round of mini-grants through the America’s Promise Power of Youth Challenge is available to apply to now: https://www.americaspromise.org/poy/RacialHealing
