Piscataway Library eNewsletter Vol 9 Issue 10

Please note: Piscataway Library will be closed on Sundays during the Summer starting Sunday, June 17 and will resume after Labor Day.

We will also be closed Wednesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Thank you for a successful 2nd annual Memorial Day Family Event

Over 1,000 people attended the Piscataway Rotary & the Piscataway Public Library's Memorial Day Family Event at Quibbletown Park this Memorial Day. Aside from the free food and drinks we had crafts for kids, a rock climbing wall, face painting, and a DJ.

We want to especially thank Community Hope for having a table and a clothing drive. Attendees were encouraged to write letters to our soldiers and plant flags along the entrance way in memory of those who served and died fighting for our freedom.

During the event we also held a very successful Basketball Tournament. We would like to thank Coach Darius Griffin Sr., the Piscataway High School Boys Basketball Coach for putting together such a fun activity for our youth!

Thank you to everyone who came out  all of our sponsors for making this event possible: Allstate, AIMS Education, Rea Realty, Financial Resources Federal Credit Union, Provident Bank, Investors Bank, Pepsi, Saker ShopRites, Striker Realty, B-C Tire Service

We now offer sewing classes!

In June read a book about Nature/Outdoors

For recommendations, check out our ARC Booklist at any branch or online at piscatawaylibrary.org/readingchallenges.

The rules are simple:

  • During each month, read a book that fits the chosen challenge category. Recommendation lists are available both online and in print at either branch.
  • After finishing a book, submit an Adult Reading Challenge entry form found at our Information Desks. Only patrons 18+ can fill out contest entries.
  • Each completed form will enter you into our Monthly Prize Drawing! Read as much as you can -- there's no limit to monthly entries!
  • If you complete any of our monthly challenges during the year, you are automatically entered into our GRAND PRIZE DRAWING. To win the Grand Prize, just attend at our Adult Reading Challenge End of the Year Celebration! One grand prize entry per patron.
  • Feel free to ask a Librarian for monthly suggestions!

Read with a purpose. And for prizes. Remember -- we are here to help if you'd like suggestions

This summer the Piscataway eNews will be taking a 2 month break in preparation for our new website! We are very excited to be able to offer to our patrons a website that is easier to navigate, more informational, and most importantly more accessible. We are hoping to launch our website as soon as possible with plenty of time for feedback from our most important users, you! Keep checking piscatawaylibrary.org for the improved website. Once it is live we will want to hear from you.

See you in September!
