Attention teens entering grades 7-12: Join our 2009 Summer Reading Club

Earn “creative cash” for every book you read, every book review you write (in print or post on our blog), every program you attend and every volunteer hour you work. Use this cash at the end of the summer’s Silent Auction. Win an IPOD shuffle, movie tickets, gift cards, books, and more.


Instructions:

  • Registration begins June 19 and continues throughout the summer.
  • Anyone living in Piscataway during the summer and going into Grade 7 & up (or ages 12 & up) can join.
  • Only books read after you have signed up, count. These books must be completed before they are entered onto the reading folders.
  • Have fun with it!

Signing up:

  • Each reader gets a reading folder, which will be kept at the library
  • Print name (last name first), address, phone and age on the folder.
  • Read!
  • Come to the library and record the title(s) on the folder.
  • Remember: leave your folder at the Library, and come visit us to record your books!

  • Earn "creative cash" and bid on prizes at the silent auction on Monday, August 24 at 7:00pm:

    • For every book you read and record make sure to get“creative cash” from the Information desk. The more you read, the more chances you have of winning.
      Submit book reviews—1 “creative cash” for each approved review. You can bring in a written review, email the review to mpiekars@lmxac.org, or visit our Summer Reading blog at http://summerreadingppl.wordpress.com and tell us about the books you’re reading!
    • Attend a teen program. If the program is a multi-part program, you earn “cash” for each session you attend. Reading Buddies, Library Players, and every hour of tech techie volunteering count towards this too.
    • If you are unable to attend the auction on 8/24, ask to see a list of prizes (available after July 20) and sometime close to 8/24, hand in your “cash” with the prize(s) you want to bid on and your phone # written on it.
    • The summer is a great time to have fun, enjoy free time, and take advantage of the many programs the Piscataway Public Library provides that give you the chance to experience new things, express yourself, and become involved with other people So, grab a book, grab a flyer, and indulge yourself in reading, the arts, and everything we have to offer.
